Abby is currently on leave. Please visit the Make an Appointment page to find an International Coordinator who is covering her regions in the interim.
After completing her master’s degree, Abby started at ASU in TRIO Student Support Services as a coordinator, providing academic support to students with disabilities, first-generation students and low-income students. Most recently, Abby served as an Academic Success Specialist in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University, where she advised Psychology majors and minors on program requirements.
Why Abby works in study abroad: I love helping students experience a different culture to learn more about their environment, policies, and themselves. There are just certain parts of culture that you need to experience, rather than read about.
Advice for students preparing to go abroad: Take the time to learn about the country, culture and language in which you will be studying. You will have a far better learning experience and grow more as a person if you have some prior knowledge as a base.
One of the most important lessons Abby learned while studying abroad or traveling: Humanity can often surprise you. Despite having a language or cultural difference, we are all human, and therefore, have a base for understanding.
