Malia Braun

Management Intern
Communications & Marketing

As the Communications & Marketing Management Intern, Malia is responsible for creating promotional materials and strategies that represent the narrative and overall goals for the ASU Study Abroad Office. This involves overseeing social media, managing the Digital Marketing Internship program and the visual representations of study abroad.

Malia’s first individual study abroad experience was in her sophomore year of college where she studied for a semester in Karlstad, Sweden. During her exchange, she had the opportunity to visit multiple countries, such as Norway, Iceland, France, Germany, Poland and Demark. She became immersed in the new cultures she discovered and was excited to share her experiences. This passion impacted Malia’s life as she started to incorporate it with her marketing and public relations pursuits post graduation with this position at ASU.

Why Malia works in study abroad: Since studying abroad changed how I viewed my entire college career. I want students to understand that opportunity so they can elevate their academic and personal success.

Advice for students preparing to go abroad: It becomes an individual experience based on the people you meet. The people you meet will be what makes the places you see so special.

One of the most important lessons Malia learned while studying abroad or traveling: Personally, my biggest lesson that I learned had to do with self-worth. I discovered that I am capable of achieving my life goals and aspirations even when they feel impossible.
