What is AlertTraveler?

AlertTraveler is a pro-active risk management tool that provides ASU student travelers with:

  • Location-specific intelligence information to enable them to make informed decisions while traveling
  • Real-time safety and security alerts, based on a student’s itinerary or geographic location, to notify students of any event(s) that could potentially affect their travel, personal health, or safety
  • Quick access to dial to emergency services in-country, U.S. embassies or consulates in the region, or ASU's 24/7 emergency line
  • An instant check-in feature allowing students to report their well-being back to ASU in the event of an incident

Who has access to the AlertTraveler app?

All participants of ASU Global Education programs (and their program leaders), as well as all ASU students who register their ASU-affiliated international travel in the Student International Travel Registration System will be expected to download the AlertTraveler app on the mobile device (phone or tablet) they will be utilizing during their activity/program.

Download instructions are provided to all eligible travelers within their MyGEO online application/registration.

When can I download the AlertTraveler app?

Travelers will be invited to download the app to the mobile device they will be taking abroad 30 days in advance of their departure. By subscribing to alerts for your destination country in advance of your departure, you can learn and better prepare for your travel.

How does AlertTraveler know what alerts to send?

The app provides information based on the student's itinerary on file with the ASU Global Education Office, the student's last known GPS location, or the countries that a student has subscribed to within the AlertTraveler app.

Where can I learn more?

More detailed information will be provided to all eligible travelers within their MyGEO online application/registration, and in the AlertTraveler User Guide. You can also view one or more of the following videos:
